Biodiversity Action Plan

Biodiversity is the variety of all life. The woodlands, parks, countryside and open spaces help make Bracknell Forest a place where families and individuals want to live. It is something we are committed to protecting and enhancing.

However, evidence from conservation and research organisations suggests nature is in decline nationally.

Bracknell Forest's biodiversity plans promote people and organisations working together to deliver action for biodiversity locally. We work in partnership with other organisations, voluntary groups and local communities on projects to improve and protect local wildlife.

Draft Biodiversity Action Plan 2024 to 2029

The Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) ran from 2018 to 2023.

The plan is under review and we are creating a new plan for 2024 to 2029.

We have been:

  • reviewing progress on delivery of targets
  • preparing a new draft plan, building on previous actions
  • consulting key stakeholders about the plan in workshops
  • preparing a public consultation to collect feedback

You can view copies of the current plan, the new draft plan and a summary of the new plan’s objectives and targets below.

Our consultation on the new draft BAP closed on Thursday 13 June 2024.

We are using your feedback to improve the plan.

We will publish the final BAP and highlight some of the key changes, later in the year.

Bracknell Forest Nature Partnership

The Bracknell Forest Nature Partnership gives local people interested in wildlife the opportunity to:

  • discuss local issues
  • share ideas
  • get involved with protecting wildlife in the area
  • guide action towards achieving the Biodiversity Action Plan

The partnership meets twice a year. If you are interested in attending, contact our biodiversity officer.
