A school travel plan sets out a range of measures with the objective of increasing the number of children walking and cycling to school.
The benefits of a school travel plan include;
Capital Grant available
Local authority schools that implemented a school travel plan by 31 March 2007, and had it approved by the Council by this date, are entitled to receive a capital grant of approximately £5,000 for primary schools or £10,000 for secondary schools (depending on numbers on roll) to spend on measures identified in the plan.
Berkshire STEP scheme
Schools that have a school travel plan (STP) can participate in Berkshire STEP. This scheme recognizes schools that keep their STP up to date, and rewards them with gold, silver and bronze awards. For more details see the link on the right.
How we can help
