The Booker Prize 2008
In 2008 Aravind Adiga won the Man Booker Prize for Fiction with his novel The White Tiger. Other authors in the shortlist were:
- Sebastian Barry: The Secret Scripture
- Amitav Ghosh: Sea of Poppies
- Linda Grant: The Clothes on Their Backs
- Philip Hensher: The Northern Clemency
- Steve Toltz: A Fraction of the Whole

Best of the Booker Prize
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Booker Prize, six authors were in the running to win a one-off award ‘The Best of the Booker Prize'.
The winner was Salman Rushdie's 'Midnight's Children'.
The short listed titles were:
- Pat Barker's The Ghost Road
- Peter Carey's Oscar and Lucinda
- JM Coetzee's Disgrace
- JG Farrell's The Siege of Krishnapur
- Nadine Gordimer's The Conservationist
- Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children
