Bracknell Forest Dance Festival

Lift Off Dance FestivalLift Off 2008 in March was a week-long celebration of dance held at South Hill Park Arts Centre. Uniting culture and community, Lift Off 2008 was an inspirational mix of first class international dance, schools and community events. Bode Lawal Sakoba Dance Theatre was on the Wilde Stage, and masterclasses, workshops, dance on screen and a whole host of other activities took place across the building.

We were delighted to host a lecture, demonstration and performance of ‘Any Queen’ by Ann Dickie from the From Here to Maturity Dance Company, an innovative company that exists to give performing opportunities to older dancers. This was followed by an exceptional performance by locally-based older dancers who had been working with Ann and professional dancer Di Ruddick since August 2007. This older dance group continues to meet on a weekly basis. Please contact Kerry Lemon, Assistant Arts Development 01344 351756 Bf.Dance@Bracknell-Forest.gov.uk for details of how to get involved.

Lift Off celebrations culminated with the ever popular Berkshire Schools Dance Gala on the Friday evening and the Youth and Community Dance Gala on the Saturday night, celebrating the best dance from across the borough and the wider region.
