Smooth motoring ahead for Twin Bridges

8 April 2014

A brand new road surface will ensure smooth motoring on the Twin Bridges junction for years to come.

The southern section of the Twin Bridges roundabout and a number of approaching roads are set to be resurfaced now that the main construction work has finished.

The laying of a new road surface marks a final stage of the project to improve the southern side of the junction.

For the safety of drivers and highways workers the junction will need to be closed overnight. In order to minimise disruption the junction will only be closed overnight for nights either side of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

The junction will be closed between 8pm and 6am on the following days:

  • Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 April
  • between Tuesday 22 and Friday 25 April

Cllr Chris Turrell, executive member for planning and transport, said: “Bracknell is growing, with more people coming for work and to live, and as the regeneration of the town centre continues we need to make sure that we’ve got roads fit for the future.

“The Twin Bridges junction improvement is key to improving the journey times for people coming to Bracknell, or passing through.

“The road closures are at one of the quietest times of year, to minimise disruption. ”

A signed diversion route will be in place on approaching roads at all times.

Work to improve the northern section of the junction will continue until the summer as planned.
