Special guardianship is one way of providing a long term stable home to a child.
Special guardians have full parental responsibility and take on legal powers until the child’s 18th birthday. Unlike adoption, the child still has a legal link to their birth parents.
If the child in question has lived in Bracknell Forest for three years or more, please contact us. One of our social workers will visit and discuss the issue further. If they have been living in another local authority more than three years, please contact that local authority.
Further information can be found in the special guardianship policy (PDF, 296kb).
