Twin Bridges highway improvement scheme

Latest update - Thursday 24 April

The resurfacing of the southern half of the roundabout has started and should (weather permitting) be completed ahead of schedule following tonight's (Thursday 24 April) overnight road closure.

At the moment there are no road markings in place on the roundabout, so please take extra care when driving. The new lining will be laid tonight.

Works are continuing on the northern side of the roundabout, where the carriageway is being altered on the Downshire Way exit, and a new vehicular crash barrier is being installed to improve safety near the existing pedestrian subway structures. This work will continue for the next two weeks under off-peak lane closures (9am to 4.30pm) to minimise disruption to motorists.

Why we are doing this

The improvements will help to upgrade the road network so it can deal with the expected increase in traffic resulting from the regeneration of Bracknell town centre and planned housing growth. These improvements are a key piece in a jigsaw of the upgraded highway network that we need in place to provide for economic growth in the borough.
