Twin Bridges highway improvement scheme
Latest update - Monday 24 February
Works are continuing on the Skimped Hill Lane approach to the roundabout. Excavation has begun on the central grassed area to the roundabout, ready for the new re-aligned carriageway. This phase of work will continue for the next three weeks, and will be carried out under temporary lane closures between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm. Please allow for minor delays when planning your journey.
The southern half of the roundabout is to be resurfaced following the completion of the majority of engineering works there. This work will be carried out overnight and temporary road closures will need to be in place to protect the public and the work force. At the moment this work is planned for mid April, although dates are yet to be confirmed. Once these are available, they will be published here.
The council's contractors will be on site until completion of the project in August 2014.
Why we are doing this
The improvements will help to upgrade the road network so it can deal with the expected increase in traffic resulting from the regeneration of Bracknell town centre and planned housing growth. These improvements are a key piece in a jigsaw of the upgraded highway network that we need in place to provide for economic growth in the borough.
