Wellbeing and Leisure

If you are thinking of getting into an activity or sport but need a bit of extra help to get going, the Wellbeing and Leisure team (WBLT) are here to help.

We can help anyone with a disability to access sports and leisure activities in the Bracknell Forest area.

Whether you are into badminton or bowling, 'keep fit' or kick boxing, we can:

  • talk through your needs and interests with you
  • help you find a group, class or session that suits you
  • go with you to the activity for some of the sessions
  • build your confidence and independence so that you can go by yourself

For more information, leave your name and telephone number on the number opposite and our team will return your call.

People who have previously used this service

William

William is recovering from myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and had to give up work. He recently started using the WBLT services.

William wanted to get out of his house and meet new people which had been difficult for him until then.

He found out about the WBLT on the internet and tried out ten pin bowling and table tennis which he has continued to play and was introduced to snooker. William now plays independently with new friends he has made through the WBLT service.

Rosemarie

Rosemarie was referred to the WBLT by the Older Person and Long Term Conditions team at Bracknell Forest Council. She has Multiple Sclerosis and wanted to keep mobile. The WBLT showed her the facilities at Bracknell Leisure centre and she decided to try swimming. The team showed her and her sister how to use the hoist. Rosemarie had two sessions with the team and is now confident enough to go swimming with her sister whenever she can.

Rosemarie said: “Staff are all really helpful and friendly. Nothing has been too much bother for the staff to help. They are all so willing. I have enjoyed the whole experience.”
