Equality Impact Assessments

Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) are an essential part of our work to:

  • Eliminate discrimination
  • Advance equality of opportunity
  • Promote good relations between people of different backgrounds and groups

They are intended to help the Council:

  • Anticipate and identify the equality consequences of new or existing functions, policies or services
  • Take steps to change the policy or the ways in which it is implemented so that any possible negative consequences are either removed or minimised

A prioritised schedule for EIA completions is maintained with all existing EIA's being subject to review every three years, in addition to EIAs being conducted on all relevant new services and policies as they are developed.  The Council has completed equality impact assessments on all its major services and policies.

Please use the links on the right for information about specific EIA. Alternatively, you can use the links below if you know what department the EIA you are searching for is related to:

Budget proposals 2011-12

These are the equality impact assessments for the budget proposals for 2011-12. These Equality Impact Assessments have been undertaken to enable us to understand the impact the savings proposals may have on equality of different sections of our community.

The equality impact assessments relate to specific proposals and should be read in conjunction with the Revenue Budget Report 2011-12 for the Executive Meeting on 15 February 2011.
