To comply with the Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006, councils in England and Wales had to undertake a review of all of the polling districts and polling places in its area by 31 December 2011 (unless held previously), with Bracknell's review formally starting in May 2011.

Local political parties, councillors and local community groups were consulted. Copies of the letters sent out to headteachers, political parties and ward councillors can be viewed online. Views were also invited from the Acting Returning Officers of both the Bracknell and Windsor Constituencies.

Although the review was of polling districts and polling places it was recognised that polling stations are closely linked to the review and to people’s interests. Comments were invited about those stations currently used and/or any suggested alternatives ensuring that:

1. electors have such reasonable facilities for voting as are practicable in the circumstances, and

2. as far as is reasonable and practicable, that polling places are accessible to all electors, including those who are disabled.

An Electoral Review Steering Group was set up to review the current arrangements, consider the views submitted and to formulate representations to be made to Council and the Executive for any changes to be effected from the publication of the revised register on 1 December 2011. The Steering Group met on 21 June 2011 and 6 October 2011.

The final proposals were considered by Council on 30 November 2011.  No changes were made to polling districts or polling places within the Borough.  However, two polling places were changed:  BT(Central) – voters will now vote at the Kerith Centre buildings in Church Road, Bracknell and BQ (Jennett’s Park) where voters will in future vote at the new Community Centre in Tawny Owl Square.
