Funding for Early Years Pupil Premium
Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is an additional sum of money paid to childcare providers for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds of families in receipt of certain benefits.
All early years providers who are eligible to receive funding for the 3-year-old and 4-year-old early education entitlement are also eligible to receive the EYPP.
EYPP is funded at the national rate of 53 pence per hour per eligible child up to a maximum of 570 hours (£302.10 per year). In the small number of cases where a child is also eligible for the additional 15 hours’ entitlement for working parents, EYPP is paid on the universal 15 hours only, up to a total of 570 hours in the year.
Once a provider starts receiving EYPP funding in respect of a particular child, they will not lose it while the child is taking up the early years free entitlement.
To claim EYPP, a provider must acquire written consent from the parent/carer by completing the parent declaration form and indicating their consent in the relevant section.
Claims for EYPP are made through the provider portal by entering the details for the parent or carer when adding a new child or updating the record of an existing child with the parent or carer information not previously entered. Guidance is in the provider portal user guide.
Information for parents about EYPP is on our Early Years Pupil Premium page.
