Independent Support is a national, government funded programme to support the recent Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Reforms and the Children and Families Act 2014.
Independent Supporters are available to help young people and parents through the new assessment process and development of an Education Health & Care (EHC) Plans. Support can be available for:
- young people or parents/carers of children being assessed for an EHC plan (new entrants)
- young people or parents/carers of children with a Statement of SEN converting to an EHC Plan and
- young people with a Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA) converting to an EHC Plan
In Bracknell Forest the service is being provided by Adviza and Bracknell Forest Information, Advice & Support Service. Initial referrals are being taken by Bracknell Forest Information, Advice & Support Service.
