Meet Councillor Kathryn Neil
I'm Kathryn Neil, Labour Councillor for Great Hollands North and a Change Manager with Waitrose.
Where would you like to be right now?
I would be in the Loire Valley in France, camping with my sister. It’s a favourite family holiday, a mix of relaxation and fun.
Where’s your favourite place in Bracknell Forest?
Taking a walk in the Jennet’s Park Country Park at sunset.
Tell us something not many people know about you
Greg Davies, the TV comedian, was my teacher at Sandhurst Secondary School.
Share something you’re proud of
I completed Tough Mudder South West in 2018, which is an extreme obstacle course.
What makes you angry or gets you annoyed?
I find people not picking up their dog waste both irresponsible and anti-social. Bag it and bin it.
Who or what inspires you?
Councillor Mary Temperton – she works tirelessly for her community. She genuinely has people’s best interests at heart and is totally dedicated to making Bracknell an even better place to live. I am very fortunate to be working beside her.
Which local charity are you passionate about?
Thames Valley Hospice is very close to my heart as they looked after my close family friend.
If you had a warning label what would it say?
What did you want to be when you were a child?
When I was 8 years old my best friend and I wanted to be a forensic scientists living in Portsmouth. It’s safe to say that didn’t quite work out!
If you could invite anyone, living or dead, for lunch who would it be?
I couldn’t restrict it to one. I’d invite my grandparents as they passed away when I was growing up and I would love to know more about them and their experiences.
I’d also ask Maya Angelou because her works are an inspiration, as was she.
