Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)
The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) gives providers additional funding to support disadvantaged three-year-old and four-year-old pupils.
All early years providers who are eligible to receive funding for the three-year-old and four-year-old early education entitlement are also eligible to receive the EYPP.
EYPP is funded at the national rate of 53 pence per hour per eligible child up to a maximum of 570 hours (£302.10 per year). In the small number of cases where a child is also eligible for the additional 15 hours’ entitlement for working parents, EYPP is paid on the universal 15 hours only, up to a total of 570 hours in the year.
Once a provider starts receiving EYPP funding in respect of a particular child, they will not lose it while the child is taking up the early years free entitlement.
For providers to claim EYPP, section 4 of the parent declaration form must be completed and signed. This parental consent must be obtained before information is entered on to the provider portal.
Claims for EYPP are made via the provider portal by entering the details for the parent or carer when adding a new child or updating the record of an existing child with the parent or carer information not previously entered. Guidance is in the provider portal user guide.
Information for parents about EYPP is on our Early Years Pupil Premium page.
