School visits to The Look Out encourage children to explore, investigate and have fun with science, technology, engineering, art and maths.
We have over 20 years of experience of school visits from Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 pupils.

We take bookings for school groups of up to 250 children.
We recommend that you allow 4 to 5 hours for your visit.
Every school group visiting The Look Out will get:
- a free pre visit for the group leader
- a copy of our risk assessment and other information emailed to you before your visit
- allocated bag and lunchbox storage space on the day
- optional extras including entry to shows, hire of activity backpacks, orienteering maps and 'make a badge' activity
- use of our large woodland play area
- a covered picnic area for lunch in bad weather, or use of picnic tables if good weather
- free pick up and drop off for coaches
- experienced staff on hand throughout the day
- a commitment to supporting your SEN provision

Bugs and beasties / Nature explorer
24 April 2019 to 19 July 2019
This show is split into 2 halves.
Part one of the session is an interactive show covering topics such as food chains, habitats and animal classifications.
In part 2, we head into the forest for a bug hunt.
Animals and humans
4 September 2019 to 19 December 2019 and 6 January 2020 to 3 April 2020
This show involves completing challenges to build the ultimate animal. We will look at habitats and survival needs. We will compare, contrast and group animals by what they eat and look at different groups of animals.
We will also look at food chains and life cycles.
Fire and light
4 September 2019 to 19 December 2019
This show looks at the sources of light on our planet. It considers the properties of fire and how chemicals can react with each other. What does a candle need to keep burning? Which creatures create their own light? What is the fire triangle? Come and marvel at our tornado of fire! This show will excite your children while covering a range of basic science principles.
Forces and magnets
6 January 2020 to 3 April 2020
Discover the world of forces and magnets in this fun interactive science show. This show covers different types of energy and forces including magnetic, friction, gravity and nuclear as well as using hands-on experiments within the show.
For KS1 it will also cover everyday materials.
Backpacks are a great way to work with pupils in small groups to discover the environment outside or inside The Look Out. Using the backpacks involves a short walk, stopping at various points and concentrating on national curriculum themed activities.
Backpacks can be hired in advance and are self-led experiences. Each backpack is suitable for up to 6 pupils and 1 leader.

We ask that there is one adult for every four pupils for Foundation and Early Years groups.
For KS1 and KS2, we ask that you bring one adult for every 6 pupils.
We offer free admission to accompanying adults in school groups, including carers for pupils with SEN.
We offer free admission to dedicated carers. There is full wheelchair access throughout the centre with the exception of the 22m tower.
Assistance dogs are welcome. There are hearing loops in seminar room and reception area.
We have a Changing Places toilet which is accessed with a RADAR key.
In good weather, you can use our outdoor picnic area.
In bad weather, you can use our marquee - a covered area with picnic tables.
Visit the gift shop
Our well stocked gift shop offers an excellent range of gifts, including many under £3. Why not include a trip to the gift shop as part of your day?
It's a great way for the children to practice their maths and experience spending money and budgeting.
Pre-ordered gift bags
