Bracknell Literary Festival poetry competition winner
Our festival poetry competition inspired many wonderful entries.
In first place was this fairy tale themed entry from Arjun Sawant.
Goldilocks was walking to the Three Bears' House,
She was slow and quiet,
But was heard by a mouse.
The mouse told her to find a beanstalk tall,
Which was owned by Jack – a boy smart and small.
The mouse went and searched all over town,
and found a girl in a beautiful gown.
It told her too, to go to Jack's house,
She looked confused but listened to the mouse.
Now we have Goldilocks, Cinderella and Jack and
a goat that weighed more than a ton.
And they all climbed the beanstalk,
One by one.
They reached the top and found a beautiful house,
and they watched the weather-vane spin,
And it was then they realised – how would they get in?
All of them climbed through an open window,
And snuck into the house,
And they were surprised to see a giant and
The giant then said “Little children what's this all about?
Come on then, take a trip in my mouth!”
