Marks & Spencer will be the first store to open at The Lexicon leisure and retail destination on Thursday 27 July. Set to be the flagship store of The Lexicon leisure and retail destination, M&S Bracknell will offer customers in the region the full M&S range of clothing, food and homeware
Store manager, Tom Henderson, is inviting local residents to join his 125-strong team to celebrate the opening with a day packed full of treats. Unveiling his store at 10am, Tom will welcome new customers with a glass of fizz as they shop the new collections.
Visitors to the store will have the opportunity to win gift cards and sample M&S’s food and drink ranges. There will also be activities and prizes to keep the little ones entertained.
M&S has also confirmed that its Wokingham store in Peach Street will close on Wednesday 26 July to coincide with the opening of M&S Bracknell. All 55 colleagues at M&S Wokingham have been guaranteed positions at other nearby stores, with the majority set to transfer across to M&S Bracknell.
Tom Henderson, Store Manager of M&S Bracknell, said:
Our new store will provide a fantastic shopping experience to new and loyal M&S customers.
We’re working really hard to bring on board the very best customer service team that will be on hand in all our departments and have carefully selected the brands and products that we know Bracknell customers will expect and love.
We’ve got lots of entertainment, sampling and giveaways on Thursday 27 July and I can’t wait to welcome everyone to The Lexicon’s first store and hear their reactions.
Gordon Scott, Regional Manager for Home Counties South at M&S said:
Our new offer at M&S Bracknell will provide the best that M&S has to offer for shoppers in the region. We haven’t taken the decision to close our Wokingham store lightly, but doing so will enable us to ensure we are in the right places to best serve our customers.
I’d like to thank the team at M&S Wokingham for their hard work and am sure that we will see the same dedication to serving customers as they transfer over to M&S Bracknell.
The Lexicon leisure and retail destination is set to open in full on 7 September 2017.
Simon Russian, development manager, Legal and General on behalf of Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, said:
We are really happy to facilitate Marks & Spencer’s wishes to open early. At the same time, we will ensure that customers can access the new store from the town centre via one of the new walkways so everyone can easily gain access to the store and see the other stores and restaurants putting the finishing touches in place before The Lexicon opens in September.
Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, said:
It’s great news that M&S are opening their new store this July as it will give residents and town centre visitors a taste of what’s to come in September when The Lexicon opens in full.
This significant step in our town’s regeneration also gives the opportunity for people to get used to and try out the new The Avenue car park ahead of the full opening on 7 September.
Customers will also be able to take advantage of the popular Collect in Store service which provides the option of having M&S.com orders delivered to the store the next day free of charge.
Parking is available and opening hours are from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm Sunday.
