More details revealed about Coral Reef’s fantastic new waterslides

Coral Reef waterslide

As progress is made on installing Coral Reef Waterworld’s new, thrilling waterslides, more details can now be revealed about what visitors can expect from the slides.

The refurbished Coral Reef Waterworld, which will open this September, will feature 5, state-of-the-art new waterslides, the combination of which won’t be found anywhere else in the UK.

Collectively, the package of the 5 waterslides will offer visitors ride experiences including:

  • customisation of their experience with colour/ sound shows, different lighting, laser effects and even a 360 degree video projection
  • challenges and games based on speed or hitting target touch points within the waterslide
  • having an action picture, complete with a customisable themed photo backdrop, taken from inside one of the waterslides

The slides will vary in speed, so there will be something to suit everyone, from serene to extreme.

These are in addition to one of the waterslides having a super crater design and another having a double crazy cone feature. The names and exact interactive elements of each individual slide will be released in the coming months.

Elsewhere on site, the main structure of the replacement roof over the main pool area is nearly complete, the new waterslide tower has reached its final height and a large amount of fittings in reception, the changing rooms and restaurant have been installed.

Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection, said:

We have always said the new waterslides coming to Coral Reef will be the most technologically advanced available and great fun. They will offer a 21st century experience for guests of all ages who will have a wealth of choice on how they customise their ride experience.

It is great to see the new waterslides now being installed, curving their way up from the main pool area towards the new waterslide tower.

We are hugely looking forward to welcoming visitors back to Coral Reef Waterworld when it reopens later this year.

A recruitment campaign is ongoing to staff the new Coral Reef Waterworld when it reopens. Lifeguard, housekeeping and catering roles are still available to apply for.
