Official opening of Warfield CE Primary School’s Woodhurst site

Warfield School Woodhurst official opening

A celebration to mark the official opening of Warfield CE Primary School’s Woodhurst site, took place on Wednesday, 14 June.

Distinguished guests, including the Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest, Cllr Mrs Tina McKenzie-Boyle; Cllr Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning; and The Bishop of Reading, joined headteachers, governors, staff and pupils from both sites to mark the official opening.

The celebration began with a collective morning worship led by co-headteachers Anna Kennedy and Paula Jenkins, with speeches of reflection and thanks by The Bishop of Reading, the Mayor and Cllr Barnard.

The school council, made up of pupils from across each year group, joined the ceremony, sharing their hopes for their learning and the future of the school, before the Mayor officially opened the school with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.

The celebrations continued with the planting of a ceremonial tree and concluded with pupils releasing balloons, with each balloon representing their hopes for the future.

Cllr Mrs McKenzie-Boyle said:

I would like to thank the school wholeheartedly for inviting me to join in this special occasion. It has given me great pleasure to celebrate with the pupils, staff and governors.

The new school provides an excellent learning environment for the children and has great vision for the future.

Anna Kennedy, co-headteacher, said:

On behalf of everyone at the school, we would like to thank all the people who worked hard to give us such an amazing building and special thanks go to the pupils, who have really made it a school. We are delighted that our Woodhurst site can continue the work of Warfield CE Primary School, educating and caring for the children of Warfield now and in the future.

Cllr Gareth Barnard, said:

Warfield CE Primary School is the first of the borough's schools to open a sister site. This is testament to the hard work of the teachers in providing the children with a safe, fun and friendly environment in which to learn.

As a councillor, resident and parent, I’m extremely proud of the support and inspiration the teachers continue to give to the children in their care, and I’m equally proud of everything the pupils achieve through their commitment to learning.
