Marks & Spencer will become the first store to open at The Lexicon on Thursday 27 July at 10am.
Store manager, Tom Henderson, is inviting local residents to join his 125-strong team to celebrate the opening with a day packed full of treats. Tom will welcome new customers with a glass of fizz as they shop the new collections. Visitors to the store will have the opportunity to win gift cards and sample M&S’s food and drink ranges. There will also be activities and prizes to keep the little ones entertained.
Shoppers will be able to access the store via the steps in Bond Square. A temporary ramp will also be in place until The Lexicon opens on 7 September to aid access.
Visitors wanting to view the opening ceremony and enter via the main entrance should use High Street car park and follow the pedestrian route.
Visitors will be also be able to access the store via The Avenue car park from 10am. This can be accessed from the new traffic light junction on Millennium Way opposite the Garth Hill College, which is opening ahead of the main scheme in September to support the early opening of Marks & Spencer.
The Avenue car park and the surrounding traffic arrangements are still in the commissioning/testing phase so a few elements will not be operational on 27 July and for several weeks following this date, including the public toilets and the car park lifts. However visitors will be able to access every floor via lifts within the Marks & Spencer store.
To reflect this a special parking rate of £1 for the first 4 hours has been introduced. This will stay in place until The Lexicon opens on 7 September.
Apart from 27 July 2017, when it will open at 10am, The Avenue car park will open from 8am every morning and close at 8pm (Monday to Saturday) and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
