The wait is finally over - Coral Reef Waterworld will re-open to the public on Friday 29 September at 10:30am.
Pirate Pete has been on dry land for more than 18 months but will set sail again on the ‘Coralina’ pirate ship to welcome visitors back to the iconic attraction and to cut the ribbon for the official re-opening.
Entry into Coral Reef will be by pre-booked tickets only for the first 3 days, (from Friday 29 September to Sunday 1 October).
Tickets will be available shortly and details of how to book will be made available via the Coral Reef Facebook page in the coming days. A peak time programme will run over all 3 days so all 5 waterslides will be in operation.
Coral Reef Waterworld has undergone major refurbishment since its closure back in January 2016. The installation of 5 new customisable interactive state-of-the-art waterslides - The Cannon; Poseidon’s Peril; Maelstrom; Storm Chaser and Aqua Splash, promise a range of light and sound experiences, from the gentle and serene to the extreme.
In addition, visitors can expect to see a brand new reception area, significantly upgraded changing facilities with more family cubicles, baby changing areas, new showers, toilets and vanity areas. Coral Spa, formerly Sauna World, has also undergone extensive refurbishment.
For those looking for post-fun refreshments, the first floor café area, now known as The Reef Restaurant, has been completely revamped. Visitors will also have the option of the poolside snack bar, The Beach Hut or a grab ‘n’ go food and drinks option, The Dunes Café, in the reception area.
Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection, said:
I’m thrilled that we can welcome visitors back to one of Berkshire’s most popular attractions. I had the privilege of opening Coral Reef back in 1989, so it’s a real honour for me to be here again and getting ready to officially open the doors once more.
Coral Reef is looking fantastic and the new waterslides are really going to set it apart from the rest. It is more than just a swimming pool, it’s a place for family fun and thrill seekers alike.
We’re anticipating it will be busy over the opening long weekend, so look out for details of how to book your tickets in advance and arrive in plenty of time for your session. We look forward to seeing you there.
From Monday 2 October, the normal off peak and peak timetable will resume. Visitors will not need to pre-book to gain entry during off peak programme times, although this may still be advisable during peak programme hours.
