Christmas at The Lexicon

Christmas decorations

Christmas at The Lexicon will start on Saturday 18 November 2017, when the town centre will undergo a magical transformation as the Christmas lights are switched-on.

In keeping with The Lexicon’s celebration of the borough’s amazing forest and green spaces, the lights will feature fabulous mistletoe, ivy and holly highlighted by classical white lights.

The illumination starts in Princess Square at 5:30pm, when to the accompaniment of a choir from Garth Hill College, the Forest Snow Queen will wave her wand to activate the lights.

She will then parade through the town centre, lighting-up the avenues and walks as she goes, finishing in Bond Square with the switch-on of The Lexicon’s Christmas tree lights.

Bracknell & Wokingham Community Band will then play festive carols and tunes, with everyone invited to join in with a Christmas sing-a-long, followed at 7:30pm by a festive performance from local choir, Vocalese.

The excitement will build from 3pm as festive entertainers, local musicians and choirs will perform throughout The Lexicon, providing a magical Christmas atmosphere.

Sue Boor, head of marketing for The Lexicon says:

We want to make The Lexicon’s first Christmas truly memorable, with plenty of entertainment, magical twinkling lights and community involvement.

The music and entertainment will continue throughout the festive period, further details will be released in the coming weeks.

Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, says:

Our residents and visitors have been delighted by The Lexicon since it opened in September and so this Christmas promises to be a very special one. It will be the first Christmas at The Lexicon meaning all our residents can truly enjoy the festive spirit, shop and dine at a variety of places in their very own town centre - something they haven't been able to do for a long time.
