Leisure operator starts work to keep Bracknell active

Everyone Active launch

Three state-of-the-art sports and leisure facilities in Bracknell are now officially under the management of an award-winning leisure operator.

Everyone Active took on the management of Bracknell Leisure Centre, Coral Reef Water World and Downshire Golf Complex on Thursday (1 March) after agreeing a 10-year contract with Bracknell Forest Council.

The three facilities will remain under ownership of the council with Everyone Active taking on their day-to-day running.

The partnership will bring a number of benefits to the town, including significant investment in Bracknell Leisure Centre, which will undergo a number of improvement projects during the initial years of the contract.

As well as decades of experience and award-winning services, Everyone Active is also introducing a new talent development programme to the borough. Set up to support up-and-coming sports men and women to achieving their potential, Everyone Active Sporting Champions offers local athletes access to high-quality training facilities, financial support and expert advice. Aspiring athletes should contact the sporting champions team before Friday 30 March for more information.

Vincent Paliczka, director for environment, culture and communities at Bracknell Forest Council, said:

“We carried out an extensive selection process to find a partner that could build upon the excellent reputation our leisure services have established over the last 50 years. We believe Everyone Active can do just that and we look forward to working with them to further enhance our leisure services”.

Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, resources and public protection at Bracknell Forest Council, said:

“The council has a long-established reputation for first-class leisure provision and it is important to us that this is at the very least maintained for our residents and visitors alike. Everyone Active has an excellent leisure management reputation and importantly is prepared to invest in our facilities and staff. I look forward to working with our new Everyone Active management team".

2017 saw Everyone Active celebrate its 30th anniversary, making it the longest-established leisure operator in the UK. It currently operates more than 160 leisure facilities in partnership with local authorities nationwide.

Regional contract manager, Ian Cook, said:

“We are delighted to have officially started our partnership with Bracknell Forest Council to manage its fantastic leisure facilities. We make it a priority to ensure that each of our centres meets the unique needs of its local community, and we are excited to become a driving force behind improving the health and wellbeing of people in Bracknell.

“It is a really exciting time for sports and leisure in the borough. We have a number of exciting upgrades planned at Bracknell Leisure Centre, which will help Everyone Active and the council to achieve our joint aim of encouraging more people to get active.”
