Ground breaking marks beginning of Bracknell Forest’s new primary school at Amen Corner

Amen Corner ground breaking

Construction of Amen Corner primary school, which will be part of King’s Academy, was celebrated in a ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday 5 September.

The ceremony took place on the site of the new school at Amen Corner, a Bellway Homes development, and involved key representatives from King’s Group Academies, appointed as the education provider; Mi-space (UK) Limited, appointed by Bellway Homes as principal contractor; and Bracknell Forest Council, which is advising on the project.

Amen Corner primary school will include 7 classrooms, a communal hall, kitchen, a learning resource area, a playground and multi-use games area (MUGA). An existing mature oak tree will also form a key feature of the development and will include seating areas and a wildflower planted habitat zone. Staff will be ready to welcome the first wave of pupils through the doors in September 2019.

Cllr Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning, said:

“Amen Corner primary school will provide places for primary aged children in a modern and interactive environment, giving them the best possible start to life. I’m looking forward to watching the progress as we head towards 2019.”

Greg Allsop, head of sales, Bellway Homes said:

“It is exciting to see the plans for Kings Academy Amen Corner primary school finally starting to transition from a concept towards reality. The new school will benefit both the families destined to live in Amen Corner as well as those in the nearby vicinity.

“At Bellway our goal is to create fantastic communities where people aspire and love to live. Our focus is on placemaking, not just housebuilding. That means creating strong communities where people from all walks of life can live happily together.”
