Do you care about recycling? Leisure facilities? Education? Transport? Housing? Libraries?
Make sure you vote at the upcoming elections being held on Thursday 2 May 2019 to have your say on all these issues and more. Residents who have registered to vote will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred borough and parish councillors for the area they live in.
Once elected, councillors have a range of responsibilities including:
- helping residents in their ward
- representing their local community on various boards and committees
- decision making and setting council policies
There are 42 borough seats up for election. There are also up to 103 parish and town seats, should all seats be contested. Details of the candidates standing in the elections can be found on our current elections page.
Postal votes will be sent out on the following dates:
- first batch – 10 April 2019
- second batch – 18 April 2019
Voting in person
You can vote between 7am and 10pm at your polling station.
You should double-check your polling station details on your poll card as a number have changed this year following a review. The location of your polling station can also be found on the Where do I vote? website.
Results will be published on our website following the election.
