Whitegrove library is the fourth in the borough to extend its opening hours, thanks to Open+ which went live today (Monday, 8 July 2019).
The new opening hours will see library services at Whitegrove available from 8am – 8pm, Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm on Saturdays and 10am – 6pm on Sundays.
Only customers with an e+ card can register to use the service, which will require them to sign a behavioural agreement and set up a personal identification number (PIN) before first use. Open+ will allow customers to gain entry to Whitegrove library during unstaffed hours, once their account has been activated.
Cllr John Harrison, executive member for culture, delivery and public protection said:
“We’re delighted to bring Open+ technology to Whitegrove library, building on the success of the technology in Binfield, Sandhurst and the new Harmans Water libraries. Open+ is similar to 24-hour gyms and allows registered users to carry out every day activities in the library, but outside of current working hours.
“Customers can borrow or return books, renew items, study, use the computers and wifi, pay for printing or photocopying or simply have somewhere quiet to sit and read the newspaper.
“The library will be closely monitored by CCTV and an emergency phone is always available in case of need. We hope Open+ will be well received in Whitegrove and make visits to the library much more convenient and efficient for its users.”
