Want to know what a melodeon is, or which councillor is in the Guinness Book of Records? This National Democracy Week (14 to 20 October) the 11 newly elected Bracknell Forest councillors have been letting us know a little about what makes them tick.
The councillors, all elected to the borough of Bracknell Forest in the May elections, have taken part in a blog series, published on the democracy pages of our website, where you can find out what inspires them, what annoys them and some little-known facts.
Councillor Paul Bettison OBE, Leader of Bracknell Forest Council said:
“I’m very pleased to welcome new colleagues to the council which shows the variety of people working in local democracy. As a council, we offer a range of events such as school visits, hosting school councils, and Q&A sessions with councillors to raise awareness of the importance of democracy, voter registration and local decision making.
“You’re never too young to get involved in democracy and I’d encourage everyone in the borough to get involved to help have a say in decisions that affect them.”
