As we enter the next phase of the fight against coronavirus, it’s important we remember to look after our health and the health of those around us.
This week will see the launch of #SafeSummer, a social media campaign with health and wellbeing tips for all.
Although protecting against coronavirus is a priority, the summer months bring their own challenges. Each week, we will share safety guidance around topics such as sun and heat safety, water safety, protecting the environment, mental health and much more.
Cllr Dale Birch, Executive Member for Adult Services, Health and Housing, said:
“As lockdown measures are easing, we are able to do more and see more people, especially outside in the sun. Keeping healthy and staying safe is paramount, not only during a pandemic but the summer months too, where the heat and sun can have damaging effects on our health.
“After a very difficult time this year, we want residents to have the best summer possible, but we want you to do this safely, to prevent transmission of the coronavirus but also to protect your own mental and physical wellbeing. I would urge you to visit our social media channels and keep up to date with our #SafeSummer guidance to help enjoy your summer responsibly.”
To get involved, follow our social media channels.
And don’t forget to share advice with friends, family and those who may be more isolated.
Have a #SafeSummer!
