A fleet of new food waste collection vehicles has been named, and ‘Binderella’ will be going to the ball!
Council officers tasked local people with coming up with food related names for five of the new trucks. After hundreds of entries, the best 10 were picked by the boroughs recycling champion and Executive Member for Environment, Cllr Mrs Dorothy Hayes, MBE.
The top 10 then went to public vote last week. With over 1,700 votes, the residents of Bracknell Forest have spoken, and the winners are:
- Dame Foodie Dench
- The Food Dude
- Truck Norris
- Hank Marvin
Each vehicle will now have their name printed on the front for residents to see!
Executive Member for Environment, Cllr Mrs Dorothy Hayes, MBE, said:
“We have been through each and every suggestion sent to us and I would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter and to vote, we are thrilled with the new names and hope everyone in the community agrees.
“It has been wonderful involving locals in Bracknell Forest to help us name our new trucks in this way and I cannot wait to see them take to the road in the next few months with their personalised livery.
“The state of the art trucks will be working hard for years to come collecting food waste recycling as part of the new service. We are really looking forward to the launch of food waste collections and I’d encourage every household to take part.”
