With less than 100 days until the EU Settlement Scheme deadline, EU citizens living in Bracknell Forest are being reminded that they must apply now to continue living and working in the UK.
The EU Settlement Scheme allows you and your family members to get the immigration status you need to continue to be eligible for public services, such as healthcare and schools, public funds and pensions, as well as British citizenship, if you meet the requirements and want to apply.
Last week, the Home Office announced that there have been more than 5.1 million applications to the scheme, with more than 4.8 million applications resolved.
So far, the latest Home Office figures (December 2020) show that 8,240 EU Settlement Scheme applications have been made in Bracknell Forest, with 4,790 of those being granted settled status and 2,770 pre-settled status.
A range of support is available to those who need help to apply, and Citizens Advice Bracknell is providing support to EU nationals who need help completing the application form. You can call them on 01344 418997, or make an online self-referral.
Cllr Paul Bettison, OBE, Leader of Bracknell Forest Council, said:
“If you are an EU citizen living in Bracknell Forest, you must act now and apply to the scheme before the deadline in order to remain here as part of our community.
“By completing the application, you will be able to continue to live, work and access services in the borough. If you need support filling in your application, Citizens Advice Bracknell can provide a helping hand.”
Applications are free but must be submitted by the deadline of Wednesday, 30 June 2021. Each family member must complete an application, this includes children.
