Bracknell Leisure Centre is set to reopen on Monday 12 April as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

The centre, managed by sports and leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Bracknell Forest Council will reopen its doors following a 3-month closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coral Reef Waterworld will remain closed at this stage until further detailed government guidance is released. All customers will be communicated to directly regarding its reopening.

The government confirmed on Monday, 5 April that leisure centres would be safe to reopen with strict operational measures in place. This is the latest stage of the 4-step roadmap plan and follows the reopening of several outdoor activities at Everyone Active sites on Monday 29 March, including Downshire Golf Complex and outdoor sports at Bracknell Leisure Centre.

The government’s roadmap details which facilities can reopen within each step, meaning some may not be available at the centre in the first instance. Visit Everyone Active's website for details about which facilities can reopen in each step and the latest guidance

Everyone Active is committed to keeping its customers safe and active, ensuring it will meet and exceed government guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 with the Everyone Active Pledge. Full details of the operator’s pledge and safety measures can be found on the Everyone Active website.

While its 200 leisure centres across the country have been closed, Everyone Active has provided a comprehensive package of online workouts for people to use, along with live streamed classes across its social media pages.

Mark Tennant, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said:

“We’re very much looking forward to reopening Bracknell Leisure Centre and welcoming back the local community.

“After being closed for 3 months, the latest step in the government’s Roadmap is a positive move forward for the leisure industry and gives people of all ages the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in their leisure centre.

“Ensuring our colleagues and customers remain safe continues to be our number one priority and we have carefully considered the strict measurements to ensure we adhere to the guidance.

“We will be contacting all customers directly over the coming days regarding the centres reopening. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and thank them for their patience.”

Cllr John Harrison, Executive Member for Culture, Delivery and Public Protection, said:

“Access to leisure facilities is a crucial part of our borough’s wellbeing and I am delighted that Bracknell Leisure Centre can reopen its doors on 12 April.

“Although many have been exercising at home and outdoors, the leisure centre gives members the professional equipment and expert advice of gym staff that they might not get at home.

“I’d also like to say a big thank you to Everyone Active for their hard work and preparation to make this reopening possible. Strict COVID-19 measures will be in place at the centre, so please respect these and familiarise yourself with them upon your return.”
