Update from council leader - 28 April

Time Square council offices

Cllr Paul Bettison, OBE, Leader of Bracknell Forest Council, said:

I hope that residents have been enjoying the warm spring weather, and that some of you were able to visit the free Bracknell Vegan Market at The Lexicon on Sunday. The vegan market was very popular last year and it's great to see it return. It will complement our weekly market, giving more choice to our residents.

Now that government restrictions are easing, this vegan market will be in the town centre on the last Sunday of each month. There are a range of fantastic stalls selling a variety of produce from delicious deli’s and cakes, to beautiful homeware and natural skincare.

The market will be outside Princess Square between 11am - 4pm on 30 May, 27 June, 25 July, 29 August and 26 September. COVID-19 safety measures will also be in place so you can shop confidently. I am looking forward to watching the market grow in size and popularity over the coming months. I encourage Bracknell Forest residents to support local businesses to help the borough recover from the pandemic.

It is also fantastic to see many residents having their first COVID-19 vaccines, as it is the best protection available against the virus. If you have had your first jab, please make sure that you have your second dose three to 12 weeks after your first dose. You can find more information on the COVID-19 vaccine on the NHS website.

I would also like to remind residents that the COVID-19 impact survey is now well underway.

The survey started on 12 April and is being carried out by independent consultation company, Public Perspectives, on behalf of Bracknell Forest Council.

Around 1,800 residents are being chosen from a range of socio-economic backgrounds and contacted by phone to take part in the survey. All responses are confidential and will be used to help the council plan for the borough's recovery from COVID-19 over the next three years. If you are contacted, I would encourage you to take part. The results of the first survey can be found on our residents' surveys page.

Stay safe and have a good week.
