Upcoming changes to home care providers

In April 2022, the council will be starting a new contract for home care providers, to make sure that the service is providing the best possible care and value.

The council is always looking at ways to make sure people who need care and support can live at home independently. One of the ways we do this is through our contractual arrangements with home care providers.

Over the coming months we will be setting up a new contract with these providers. The contract will set out:

  • what service they must deliver
  • the standards they must meet
  • how much they will be paid
  • how the council will monitor their service to make sure our residents are getting the best possible care

Home care providers will have to apply to the council to be part of the contract and the council will then carry out checks to make sure they meet the right standards.

For people who are already receiving a home care service, the council aims to keep changes to a minimum. If there are any changes needed, residents will be told directly and the council will work closely with those affected throughout.
