COVID-19 vaccination van to visit Owlsmoor and Sandhurst

Vaccine vial

Grabbing a COVID-19 jab is set to become even easier for residents in Sandhurst and Owlsmoor as a mobile vaccination unit will be visiting those areas next week.

Anyone aged 16 or over can go along to the unit for their vaccination, which will be offering jabs:

  • Monday 11 October and Tuesday 12 October at Owlsmoor Community Centre, Yeovil Road, Owlsmoor - 10am to 5pm
  • Friday 15 October and Saturday 16 October at Sandhurst Memorial Hall Car Park, Yorktown Road - 10am to 5pm

The vaccination unit will be offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to anyone 16 or over who is yet to have their first dose, even if you previously declined your appointment and have now changed your mind.  Second doses will also be offered to those aged 18 and over who had their first dose of Pfizer over 8 weeks ago.

Booster jabs will also be available for people eligible for a booster, 6 months after their second dose.

No appointment is needed, and no ID is required. Simply just turn up and provide your name and address.

The vaccine is the best way to protect yourself against the virus, reduce the risk of passing the virus on to others and help avoid the effects of long COVID.

Heema Shukla, consultant in public health at Bracknell Forest Council said:

“The roll out of the vaccine programme in Bracknell Forest has been very successful. The team at the vaccination site at the Waitrose sports centre has done an amazing job in getting many of our residents protected against COVID-19.  We understand that for some people getting to a vaccination site is an issue, therefore we are doing all we can to make the process as easy as possible.

“Bringing the mobile vaccine unit to areas such as Owlsmoor and Sandhurst will allow people access to the vaccine in a convenient location.  We are looking forward to getting these residents vaccinated so they too will have protection against the virus, especially as we move towards winter.”
