Safeguarding Week 2021

Two people holding hands

Safeguarding Week will take place from Monday 15 November to Sunday 21 November. It is an opportunity to raise the importance of safeguarding and highlight key issues. We hope the week will enable organisations and individuals to feel confident in recognising the signs of abuse and neglect and how to report concerns.

Tuesday 16 November - safeguarding team in town centre

On Tuesday 16 November the safeguarding team will be in Bracknell town centre to provide advice and answer any of your safeguarding questions. Bracknell Forest Council, Thames Valley Police, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Trading Standards and The Ark will be there.

They will provide information about:

  • supporting families
  • supporting young carers
  • digital inclusion for older people
  • how to stay safe online
  • fraud
  • domestic abuse
  • child criminal and sexual exploitation
  • where to go for help and support.

If you’ve got any questions or need support, come and find us outside Waterstones in The Lexicon from 10am to 4pm.

Wednesday 17 November - online safeguarding forum

On Wednesday 17 November we have our first online safeguarding forum.

This event will be opened by Bracknell MP James Sunderland and will include a number of speakers who will highlight:

  • local safeguarding issues
  • why awareness in the community is so important
  • how to foster a positive safeguarding culture

We will share what can be learned from local case studies and how we can work together to improve outcomes for children and vulnerable adults.

For more information and to register your place, visit the Bracknell Forest Safeguarding website

Monday 15 to Friday 19 November - The Ark at Waitrose vaccination site

From Monday 15 November to Friday 19 November volunteers from The Ark will be at the Waitrose vaccination site. They will provide information on how to safely choose care, clubs, groups, help and support for individuals, parents and carers.
