New chief executive for Bracknell Forest Council announced

Bracknell Forest councillors this evening confirmed that Susan Halliwell will be the borough council’s new chief executive from this autumn, following a thorough recruitment process.

Susan will join Bracknell Forest Council following the retirement of current Chief Executive, Timothy Wheadon, who has been at the helm for the past 19 years.

Susan has 18 years’ experience in the public sector and joins from West Berkshire Council where she is currently Executive Director, Place.

Cllr Paul Bettison OBE, Leader of Bracknell Forest Council, said:

“We are delighted that Susan will be joining us later this year as our new chief executive. We carried out a thorough recruitment process earlier this summer to ensure we secured the best possible candidate for the role for our residents, staff and businesses.

“Naturally, we will be sad to see Timothy Wheadon leave the organisation, as his leadership and knowledge have been instrumental in helping successfully shape and drive the council for many years. However, we are looking forward to Susan joining us and building on that success and we wish Tim all the very best for his retirement.”

Susan is expected to join in October. Her appointment was confirmed by full council on Wednesday, 22 June, as per the council’s constitution.
