Two new giants and an exciting inclusive new Forest Guardian programme are to be unveiled at the Bracknell Forest Festival, which is taking place at The Lexicon between Wednesday 24 August and 4 September 2022.
The new Forest Guardian area, will host the new Get Green and Active volunteer scheme, designed to encourage people within the borough to get outdoors and closer to nature.
Get Green and Active, will be run in partnership with Bracknell based involve Community Services, a local charity specialising in the volunteer and community sector.
In addition to volunteering, children will also be encouraged to make their own conservation and wellbeing pledges under the watchful eye of new giant, Bracknell Forest Guardian, Elderma.
In Princess Square, adventurous giant Will Wildwood, will make his debut appearance. Standing at more than 5 metres high, this new giant boasts an integral slide with a message for visitors to get active outdoors.
Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration at Bracknell Forest Council says:
“The forest and green spaces within the borough are a fundamental part of what makes Bracknell Forest such a special place to live and work.
Our Forest Festival has been created as a fun event but will also remind people just how easy to it is to use these spaces and stimulate different ways that the local community can get involved.”
Also new for this year is The Night Forest theatre show, where younger visitors and their families will meet 5 fabulous forest creatures. Using holographic technology, these characters will appear to come to life as part of this interactive show.
Places to attend The Night Forest Show can be pre-booked, with all proceeds going to The Lexicon Charity Fund.
Other Forest Festival activities include a Seedling Sprite Trail, a host of entertainers and a special The Lexicon Fifth Birthday Proms (taking place on Saturday 3 September 2022).
Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon says:
“There will be so much to do and see during the 10 days of Forest Festival. A combination of our 3 returning giants, 2 fabulous new giants and all the surrounding activities will make this our largest event since we opened five years ago.”
