Community Governance Review final consultation

Earlier this year residents were encouraged to have their say on the Bracknell Forest Community Governance Review (CGR). This review will help us determine whether the current parish and town council ward boundaries and number of councillors need to change in order to reflect the changing make-up of the local communities.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation. Having taken your feedback into consideration, the council has now published draft proposals for the borough’s town and parish councils, and we would like your views. This is the second and final consultation where residents will be able to have their say on the draft recommendations.

The goal of the review is to make sure parish and town councils are working as effectively as they should be. They should also reflect the identity and interests respective of their local communities.

Cllr John Harrison, Executive Member for Culture, Delivery and Public Protection, said:

“This review gives people the opportunity to have their say on things that affect them within their community, and aims to ensure that people have easy access to democracy in their local area.

The CGR will determine whether the parish and town council ward boundaries and number of councillors need to change to reflect the changing make-up of the local community. Ensuring greater community governance aims to ensure greater community engagement and local service delivery.”

Cllr Dale Birch, Chairman of the Boundary Review Group, said:

“Thank you to our residents who took part in the first stage of the council’s Community Governance Review consultation, we have listened to what you have said, and now we’d like you to get in touch with your thoughts on the draft proposals.

“Parish and town councils provide important services in your area, and we need your help with shaping the delivery of these in the future. It is important to us that all residents get the chance to have their say in this review.”

You have until Sunday 11 September to have your say on the draft recommendations. Residents, businesses, community groups and town and parish councils can take part in the consultation. Paper copies will also be made available in all libraries across the borough, as well as Time Square, our council office.

Agreed changes will come into effect for the elections being held on 4 May 2023.
