Running Out of Time, the 24-hour a day running relay from Glasgow to Sharm el-Sheikh, will be passing through Bracknell Forest on Friday 7 October to raise awareness of climate change education.
Starting in Glasgow, the host of COP26 and ending in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, the host of COP27, the relay will stop at 732 places across the UK and Europe, including Lily Hill Park in Bracknell.
At each stop, runners will pass on the baton that carries a powerful message from young people that will be delivered to decision makers at COP27. Read the message inside the baton.
Residents wishing to support the runners can come down to Lily Hill Park, near the lodge, on Friday 7 October at 5.30pm, when the handing over of the baton is due to take place. Parking is available at Bracknell Rugby Club and Lily Hill Park North.
Cllr Mrs Dorothy Hayes MBE, executive member for environment, said:
“Climate change is affecting us right now, but our younger generations are going to face even more challenges. We fully support the call for climate change education and look forward to supporting the Running Out of Time relay as it passes through the borough.
“It’s also an opportunity to share the great work we are doing locally and take inspiration from other places across the UK and Europe.”
As well as supporting the run, there is the option to take part too. Residents can sign up to run the Bracknell section of the relay, which is approximately 10 kilometres. For more information on how to sign up and take part, visit the Running Out of Time website.
