Family support advisors

Family support advisers (FSAs) are there to support you and your child to get the best from school.

These are some of the ways FSAs can help you and your family:

  • offering one to one support
  • listening to parents and carers and giving confidential support and guidance
  • organising regular drop in sessions to meet other parents and carers
  • providing information about other relevant services in Bracknell Forest
  • supporting parents and carers with their own learning opportunities
  • providing access to parenting programmes
  • putting parents and carers in touch with support groups
  • supporting SEN pupils in mainstream classes

These are some scenarios that FSAs could help you with:

  • 'my child's behaviour is getting out of hand'
  • 'I have lots of questions about being a parent'
  • 'I'm worried about the next parent's evening'
  • 'I just need someone I can talk to'
  • 'since my partner left me things haven't been the same'
  • 'I'm really worried about my daughter's schooling this year, her self esteem is a problem'

FSAs aim to achieve the following:

  • to build parents and carers confidence to deal with difficult parenting issues and behaviours
  • to improve the achievements and attendance of children at school
  • to strengthen relationships and communication between home, school and other services

To get in touch with your family support adviser ask at your child's school, or contact the Family Information Service.
