The third of 5 waterslide names for the new Coral Reef Waterworld has been revealed.
The Cannon is a high speed, high energy slide that will shoot brave riders into darkness down the 67 metre slide like a cannon ball from a cannon.
The Cannon has the smallest circumference of all the new waterslides which adds to the feeling of being inside a cannon. This ride is not for the faint hearted but promises a breath-taking experience as you try to ride the flume as fast as possible to beat your friends ride times and speed.
At the top of the slide, a timer will count down before riders launch themselves down the slide at whatever explosive speed they dare, activating the speed timer. A sensor at the bottom will detect the slider ending their journey and their time, as well as their speed, will be displayed on an LED screen. The best ride time of the day will also display, giving riders something to beat if they dare to ride again.
Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection said:
The Cannon is Coral Reef’s fastest new slide and certainly one for all the extreme thrill seekers out there. This slide will challenge even the bravest of shipmates and will sort the seafarers from the landlubbers.
This slide will create a real competitive edge as visitors try to beat the fastest time recorded that day and get themselves to the top of the leader board.
Two other waterslide names were revealed recently: Storm Chaser and Aqua Splash.
The 2 final waterslide names and details of the experiences on offer, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
