Coral Reef follows the ASA national plan for teaching swimming.
Swimming lessons are provided during term time for pre-school children on weekday mornings and afternoons.
The cost of a lesson is £6.10.
This is paid in full for the length of the course.
How to book
Please contact Coral Reef Waterworld on 01344 862525 or visit our reception in person.
A temporary car parking pass will be issued at the first attended lesson of each term to allow lesson customers free parking for the length of their child's booked lesson. The pass is valid for the duration of the term.
Lessons are split into 5 groups:
- parent and baby (6 months to 18 months)
- parent and child (18 months to 3 years)
- unaccompanied beginner (3 years to 5 years)
- unaccompanied improver (3 years to 5 years)
Swim nappies or leak-proof swim wear must be worn by babies. Children who have had a stomach upset should not swim for 2 weeks.
The emphasis is upon development of very basic motor skills and providing introduction to water and the swimming environment through fun and games.
The next stage along the journey takes a swimmer through fundamental movement skills, stages 1 to 7 of the NPTS. As we only cater for pre-school children, stage 1 and 2 are normally achieved and sometimes stage 3.
Developing basic safety awareness, the class scenario, basic movement skills and water confidence skills. Swimmers may use aids such as arm bands, floats and so on.
Developing safe entries to the water, including jumping in, basic floating, travel front and back up to a distance of 5 metres, plus rotation to regain upright positions. Swimmers may use aids such as arm bands, floats and so on.
Developing safe entries including submersion, travel up to 10 metres on the front and back, progress rotation skills and water safety knowledge. At this stage, the swimmer will be assessed without the use of aids or support.
