All power to Lily Hill Park

Bracknell Forest residents and visitors to Lily Hill Park, will soon have a new place to charge their electric vehicles.

Two new double electric charge points are due to be provided this summer, in the site car park off Lily Hill Road.

This comes after Bracknell Forest Council was successful in securing a grant offer from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).

The work required to provide the charge points will start in late June, with the new facilities expected to be available for residents to use in July.

Cllr John Harrison, Executive Member for Culture, Delivery and Public Protection, said:

We are delighted to receive this grant offer, and we are grateful to the Energy Saving Trust for their invaluable assistance with our application.

The Government has announced that all new cars and vans wholly powered by petrol and diesel will not be sold in the UK from 2030.

The council recognises that with the rising cost of fuel at the pumps, many residents will be looking at moving to an electric vehicle but may be worried about being able to charge their batteries when they need it. Not everyone has a suitable charging point near their home.

Providing these new facilities is just one of the actions we are taking to ensure that transition is as smooth as possible for our residents and businesses.”
