Public consultation of a revised draft Thames Basin Heaths SPA Supplementary Planning Document

The council is consulting on a revised Draft Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area Supplementary Planning Document (Draft SPASPD) from 10am on 8 January 2018 until 5pm on 19 February 2018.

The Draft SPASPD is a planning document available for public consultation. Its geographical coverage is the whole of Bracknell Forest Borough.

The Draft SPADPD, once completed, will be a key document in Bracknell Forest Council’s Local Development Framework. It will be an essential part of implementing the council’s land use planning strategy. In particular, the SPADPD will:

  • set out the context, rationale and issues relating to the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area (SPA)
  • set out the assessment and mitigation requirements for development which places recreational pressure on the SPA
  • set out the financial contributions developers should pay
  • bring forward new land to be upgraded as alternative recreational open space to the SPA called Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspaces (SANGs)

Once adopted, the SPASPD will be used to determine planning applications along with planning policies.

By law the council must consult on a draft version of the SPASPD and take account of any responses made to the consultation before adopting a final version.

The council has also published a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) screening determination and other supporting documents for consultation alongside the Draft SPASPD as follows:
