Harvest Ride - new toucan crossing

A new toucan crossing is being installed on Harvest Ride, near the roundabout junction with Westmorland Drive.

The crossing will be positioned on Harvest Ride on the west side of the roundabout. The footways and roundabout islands will be widened around the crossing and past Julius Way to give more space for pedestrians and cyclists to pass.

This location is on a walking route to and from Whitegrove School and is a popular place for pedestrians to cross Harvest Ride.

The proposals are shown in the drawing below.

When the works will take place

The crossing will be constructed over an 8 week period starting on 26 July 2021. This is when the roads are quieter over the summer break and the school is closed.

The works will be carried out during off-peak times from 9:30am to 3:30pm.

The majority of the work will be carried out with lane closures and temporary 4-way traffic light. This allows for sufficient space for the workforce to work safely.
