Frequently asked questions about the continuation of the parking scheme

I did not vote for the scheme to continue so why do I have to be included?

The council have carried out a full and extensive consultation process and based on the results received from residents a final decision had to be implemented. The decision was based on the majority votes whether to remove or continue with the scheme in your road or street.

I wanted the scheme to continue but it has been removed. Is it possible this decision will be reconsidered?

Who qualifies for a permit?

We do not propose to change the rules relating to who qualifies for permits and how many can be applied for. Therefore you will be able to apply for the same permits you currently have.

Why has the council introduced a new charging regime?

The charges are required to recover the costs associated with running the resident parking scheme and are therefore necessary for the scheme to continue to operate.

Now the trial period is over, will I be able to use my current permit(s) and/or scratch card(s) from April 2017?

Due to the new pricing structure we will be issuing new permits and scratch cards valid from 1 April 2017. All permits and scratch cards prior to this date will therefore be invalid.
