Carers entitled to free leisure access

Carer helps older gentleman lift weights

Carers wanting to support an individual with accessing Bracknell Leisure Centre are entitled to free entry. This is for up to a maximum of 2 carers or personal assistants.

Access will be allowed while carers are providing support and assistance to an individual. This means that carers do not need to pay extra to help their charges lead a healthy lifestyle.

While carers have access to the facilities free of charge, they must at all times be in a caring role that is providing support and assistance.

What carers need

Carers need a “carer's subscription”. This is initially valid for 3 months but can be extended as necessary.

It will allow carers to book for free. The carer must be linked to the individual being cared for.

How to get a subscription

The next time you are passing Bracknell Leisure Centre, pop in and say hello.

One of the membership team will register you as a carer and issue you a with a card. You will need to have completed an online induction before entering.

With the membership card, you can enter through the turnstiles unobstructed.

A welcome letter will be issued outlining:

  • the terms and conditions of use
  • contact information for Bracknell Leisure Centre and the community programmes on offer
  • the fire evacuation procedure for people in care
  • potential requirements for completion of a PEEP (personal, emergency evacuation plan) if necessary

The team will need to know if the individual in care requires additional support in an emergency.

As standard, the subscription will be reviewed every 3 months before renewing. This is to check that the carer is attending in a supporting role.

Using the facilities independently

If you need to take some well deserved time out from your role as a carer or personal assistant and want to use the facilities to recharge your batteries, then it’s possible that you could be eligible to join independently on a reduced rate. This can be done via our leisure saver scheme.

The full criteria and information on how to apply can be found on the leisure centre saver scheme page on our website.
