Corporate estate projects

Decarbonise electricity supply to corporate estate

All electricity purchased since 1 April 2022 is zero carbon.

Reduce water use in identified council buildings

Installing AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) meters across the estate.

Quarter 2 update - July to September 2022

Installed 24 new automated pulse enabled water meters to measure every half hour on larger meters and daily on smaller meters. By the end of 2022 we will have a recorded consumption for most of our sites. 

Some challenges include - obtaining sufficient signal while underground and the need for ongoing financial support to maintain the meters.

Retrofit the Silva Homes owned domestic housing stock

Bidding for Social Housing Decarbonisation funding.

Report on specific projects delivering energy efficiencies in council properties

Feasibility studies - retrofitting the corporate estate

Procuring a series of feasibility studies (with Atkins) to identify retrofit energy saving opportunities on corporate buildings.

Studies were completed and formed the basis of an initial £1 million capital investment programme launched for 2023 to 2024.

Improving energy efficiency within the corporate estate through decarbonisation scheme

New energy purchase contract signed with EDF Blue Energy. From April 2021 all electricity supplied to council estate will come from 100% zero carbon sources.

Complete. All electricity guaranteed as supplied from non-fossil fuel sources.

Green Homes Grant Bid 3 (Sustainable Warmth).

Project closure outcomes

The scheme finished on 31 March 2023.

A grand total of 28 LAD-3 eligible homes received £273,000 worth of retrofitting (energy efficiency) improvements.

One HUG-eligible home received £11.5k worth of retrofitting (energy efficiency) improvements.  

Green homes voucher scheme

Green homes voucher scheme - supporting residents to apply for two thirds funding towards energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements.

Green homes grant £900,000

Green homes grant £900,000 (LAD 1A scheme). Funding energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements in E,F,G fuel poverty homes. 

Quarter 2 update - July to September 2021

99 properties benefited from a total of 123 energy improvement measures.

Estimated £300 annual energy bill savings per household and removal of 118 tonnes of CO2e.

Project closure outcomes

A total of £13,000 was spent upgrading 5 properties. 3 of the properties received more than one kind of energy efficiency saving measure or intervention.  

Warm Homes Grant Scheme

The Warm Homes Grant Scheme converted off-gas properties to on-gas.

101 properties were converted through this scheme.

Anaerobic digestion plant

Whilst the proposal is sound we are advised to wait for a commercial developer to approve such a scheme providing suitable land were available.

To seek funding for energy saving green initiatives that will reduce overall energy consumption.

As CS-12 is now largely redundant awaiting the adoption of the new Local Plan this action plan line is now closed.
