Birth certificates

If your baby was born at home in Bracknell Forest, you must register the birth with us.

For births at Frimley Park or any hospital in Surrey you should apply to the Surrey County Council register office.

Registers that we hold

This district used to be known as Easthampstead or Bracknell. It includes Sandhurst and North Ascot and up until 1998 included Sunningdale and South Ascot.

We hold registers for all births that occurred in:

  • Bracknell Forest since 1837
  • South Ascot, Sunningdale and Sunninghill from 1 April 1934 to 31 March 1998
  • Heatherwood Hospital from March 1972 until 31 March 1998

If you were born after 1 April 1998 in Heatherwood, South Ascot, Sunningdale or Sunninghill you should apply to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead register office.

What we do not provide

We do not provide certificates for births that occurred outside our district, such as at Frimley Park in Surrey.

If the birth occurred outside Bracknell Forest, contact the local authority in which the birth took place.

Records of adoptions in England and Wales are held by the Registrar General. Find out about adoption records on GOV.UK.
