Floral tributes

Bouquet of flowers.

Cremations

Following a cremation, flowers can be left in the flower tribute area to the rear of the chapel.

They will be cleared within the following time frames.

If the service takes place:

  • Monday to Thursday, the flowers will be cleared on the following Monday
  • Friday or Saturday, the flowers will be cleared the following Monday week - a maximum of 8 to 10 days after the service

Burials

Flowers can be laid on graves. They can stay there for up to 2 weeks, depending on weather conditions and the level of deterioration determined by staff.

Warning - floral tributes and animals

Wildlife such as deer, rabbits and squirrels regularly visit the crematorium and cemetery to feed. We have tried our best to prevent them from eating floral tributes but they often get around our efforts.

When choosing a floral tribute, you may want to consider flowers that wildlife are less attracted to, such as:

  • Chrysanthemums
  • Narcissus
  • Daffodils
  • Jonquils
  • Marigolds
  • Peonies
  • Sunflowers
  • Lavender
  • Poppies
  • Irises

You may also want to try:

  • human hair strands (wrapped around fresh flowers)
  • chilli powder, curry powder or garlic salt (sprinkled on flowers)
  • diluted vinegar, perfume or hair spray (sprayed on flowers)

Bear in mind these suggestions may still not put them off.
